Measure items before choosing a van
Record the height, width and length of furniture or equipment that cannot be dismantled. Keep a separate estimate of box volume and total weight: cargo volume does not establish legal payload.
Think about access at both properties
Check the width of gateways, parking restrictions, building entrances and how far items need to be carried. A large van is not useful if it cannot safely approach the loading area.
Request confirmed dimensions
Ask which actual vehicle, usable loading space and authorised cargo are available for your dates. Do not assume that every van offers the same dimensions or is suitable for every load.
Plan the number of journeys
Include time for loading and unloading and indicate whether several trips will be required. Confirm the vehicle and permitted use before relying on the proposed transport plan.
